Sound/ Narrative Designer Plan

I would like our game to have an 8-bit sound design. I was inspired by the sounds of Deltarune, a game I absolutely adore in part because of its catchy music and fun sound effects. I plan on making most of our sounds in a program called Bfxr that specializes in 8-bit sound effects. I have a decent amount of experience with this program; I've used it to make 3 games in the past.

For our story, the general premise is that you are the last crewmate alive on your spaceship after a horrific tragedy. Now, the ship is set to self-destruct in approximately 2 minutes! Solve puzzles to collect key items that allow you to open the escape pods and get out before it's too late!

To properly showcase this story in terms of sound design, an alarm will be going off throughout the ship. The sound will be terminating from the reactor in the center of the ship/ Y area that connects all the rooms. When the player is in this area, the sound will be the loudest but get quieter the further away they are. The 2:00 minute timer will also beep each second it counts down, signaling imminent doom that will encourage the player to work faster. Background music with a techno vibe will also play throughout the game. As the ship is badly damaged, the sound design will reflect this; pipes will be sticking out from the walls hissing steam, crackling fire will pose a threat, and damaged wires will fall into water zapping with electricity. In general, the game will have a very futuristic sound to it, reflecting the space-age that the game takes place in.
