Environment Art: 3D Assets
Space Escape » Devlog
The 3D assets for Space Escape were all created by me in Maya. Our team decided that a low-poly style would be best. We decided on low-poly because we would be able to use Unity materials with these type of assets. Time constraints made us rule out using the full 3D pipeline for these assets. First, I modeled each asset in Maya. Then I assigned material groups based on how I wanted the colors to be divided in Unity.
Once the assets were imported into Unity, it was easy to drag and drop materials onto the assets because Maya's materials are embed into the .fbx files. A color palette of mostly grey was accented with green and red to make the spaceship's appearance fit with the theme of an old, destroyed spaceship.
