Environment Art: 2D Assets and Particles
2D assets were created in Paint.NET and applied to planes in Unity to add variation to the environment. These assets were used for either directing the player or environmental storytelling.
To make the spaceship look more futuristic, I chose a sci-fi font and applied emissive materials onto the assets to make them glow and stand out from the environment. The arrows and labels were added to direct the player through the spaceship so that they knew where to go by reading the dialog and looking for the matching label.
Environmental storytelling was used to tell the player about what happened on the ship in the maze through 2D assets of blood splats. This implies that the ship is going down due to foul play.
For the fire and electricity particles, I used free assets from the Unity store.

For the steam particle, I used unity's default particle shader and tweaked the parameters so it looked more like real steam.
