Environmental Art Direction
The environment art for Space Escape will immerse the player in an escape room style environment that will be modeled after a spaceship.
STYLE: The assets for Space Escape will be modeled in a low-poly style. There will be minimal texturing and very low lighting paired with red sirens to indicate that the ship is about to be destroyed. The environment will be dark since the player is in space.
LEVEL AESTHETICS: The spaceship in Space Escape is going to be a small, cramped vessel with low lighting and tight corridors to walk through. Each corridor leads to a different room in the ship. All rooms are connected by corridors that will look similar to these references. The map from Among Us was used to decide on the corridor/room system. The red light in the corridors will give the player a feeling of urgency and fear.
VANTAGE POINT: To prevent the player from feeling like they are in an arbitrarily floating spaceship, the cockpit and main corridor will have windows that allow the player to see out into space.
