Decommissioned UI
UI for the concept of a 2D action-adventure platformer PC game, Decommissioned.
Loosely inspired by the game "The Fall" by Over The Moon, Decommissioned is a 2D action-adventure platformer set in a dark and endless factory that mass produces horrid amalgamated automatons, coded for nonstop violence and killing sprees. The player is a "malfunctioning" android who's purpose is now to escape the Overseer's factory and expose the truth of what happens within the rusted metal walls...
This is the UI for this game concept, taking players through the flow of the game and its various menus, as well as entering, exiting, and interacting when the player is in the gameplay.
Process
The game concept flourished just from brainstorming, putting the idea on a design doc and coming up with a loose story. To create the UI for the game, it definitely had to reflect the horror, dark, and encumbering theme.
I created a flow diagram which showed the process at which the game takes the player through the different menus. Such as starting with an initial loading screen, which takes the user to the main menu, where they can make a new game, access a loaded game, go to the options menu, customize and select their character, and exit the game, with a confirmation if they really want to exit.
I also created wireframes, which show the positioning and layout of the various buttons and UI assets within every single menu. Every wireframe is the same size with the same aspect ratio, 16:9, to best configure button and art asset sizes to best display on a PC screen.
I created all of the UI art assets (with the exception of 3 icons in the gameplay, credits below) with the use of Figma. Here I made things such as the game's title, button images, mini and full map, customizations and variations, etc.
